Doc, how are you keeping busy during the COVID-19 Pandemic?
If you have read my previous posts, you know we aren’t doing a lot of dentistry at the moment. So I thought I’d relate a few things that I’m doing to try to keep sane during these times of social distancing, self- isolation, hand washing, etc.
Step 1: Re-establish A Routine.
As a result of not working in the surgery as much, I have found it has messed around with my daily routine and this has resulted in a few changes in my behaviour.
For example, forgetting to do stuff.
Forgetting to go to sleep, forgetting to wake up, forgetting to eat, drink, take out the trash, feed the dog, mow the lawn, etc.
It seems that I am a creature of habit and my daily routine flows from one task to the next. When a task is forgotten, or done out of order, the system collapses.
So how do I re-establish a routine?
I’m thinking I will start with something simple…
… and easy to do
… that can be done at the same time every day
… is consistent
… and rewarding
I shall SHAVE every day.
This one task can act as the cornerstone to my day.
By focusing on this one task, so many other pieces of the puzzle need to fall into place.
I need to wake up first, which means setting my alarm, so I’ll have to sleep first, but only if I have gone to bed and exercised after having eaten some dinner. (Lol, I’m not really exercising at the moment, I just put that in so you think better of me)
By focusing on shaving at the same time every morning, the discipline and routine will return to my life, and I can then move on to bigger and better things.
Ok, see you next time – I’m going to go and shave.

P.S. I’ll let you know how it goes.
